“I have been blessed with the wonderful opportunity to play with some talented people.  Some of my favorites are:  Wilder Embry, Anitra Holley, American Idol – Michael Johns, Garrison Field, Wes Yoakam, Scott Little Band, Zac Brown Band, David Ryan Harris, The Basement Poets, Sonia Leigh, Shawn Mullins, Clay Cook,  Brian Wiltsey and John Mayer.”

Hank Barbee began playing guitar at the age of 11 in Richlands, North Carolina.  He grew up listening to Appalachian folk music and quickly developed an affinity for old sounds and instruments during those early years.  “Every sound I have ever heard has developed my musicality in one way or another” relates Hank when asked about this love of stringed instruments.

Hank’s first instrument is either electric, acoustic or slide guitar, “I like playing

finger style.”  The other instruments he plays are Dobro, Mandolin and old timey

Steel Guitar (without pedals).  He enjoys teaching interested people to play the instruments and has given lessons since he was 16 years old and is always willing to accept new students.

In the last 23 years, Hank has performed in music theatre, churches, garages, clubs, porches, bars, basements, attics, ball games, political agendas, radio, weddings, television and for fun in probably every venue you can think of (good or bad) in a lot of cities in the United States.  To his credit, Hank has recorded on well over 50 albums by independent and Grammy award winning artists.
